OKLAHOMA! , the quintessential musical celebration of the American Frontier, opens at the Grand Opera House on Thursday, February 14. This boot-stomping love triangle is one of the best loved plays in American musical history. Raised in big-hearted turn-of-the-century Oklahoma Territory, spunky Laurey Williams spurns the affections of lovesick cowboy Curly McLain, only to fall into the hands of malevolent hired hand Jud Fry.

A heart-warming romance, a jubilant comedy, a celebration of the grit and spirit that made America what it is, OKLAHOMA! is also a showcase for some of the most beautiful songs ever written for the stage. Featuring such standards as “People Will Say We’re in Love”, “Oh, What a Beautiful Morning” and the rousing title song “OKLAHOMA!”, this show has something for everyone.

Directed by Carole Sullivan, with musical direction by John Woodin, choreography by Sarah Alexander and scenic design by Jan Lavacek, this energetic musical has “plenty of heart and plenty of hope.”

OKLAHOMA! will be on stage at 7:30 PM on February 14,15,16, and February 21, 22, 23, and at 2 PM on Sundays February 17 and 24. Tickets may be purchased at the Grand Opera House Box Office, 135 W. 8th Street in Dubuque or by calling 563-588-1305 11am-5pm Monday through Friday. The Box Office is also open and hour before each show and from 10am to the start of the show on performance Saturdays.
