A sound
expert from the Lifeline Amplification Systems in Platteville,
Wisconsin was invited to the Grand to discuss our present and
future sound needs. Lifeline amplification systems used the
ease (elecetro acoustic simulator for engineers) computer program
to help with the sound system evaluation. The program gives
you the ability to draw a room much like an architect. They
can then insert each building material (wood stage, padded chairs,
etc.) And look at many different speakers that can be placed
in the room. Lifeline looked at many different sound system
calculations as part of the evaluation. The recommended loudspeaker
design is called an overhead cluster. This design has several
loudspeakers typically placed above the stage area and grouped
together. The idea is that these loudspeakers will act as one
loudspeaker and you will hear only one speaker and not numerous
speakers at different times. The new sound system will include
a Renkus Heinz Trap CT/5 Loudspeakers system. The sound booth
area is also being relocated from the third floor technical
room to a large sound desk in the back of the balcony. The sound
mixing person will now be in the same room as the sound that
is being created.
