Early Grand Opera House
Grand History!
The Grand Opera House is the oldest theater in Dubuque and was built in 1889-1890 at an estimated cost of $65,000. Done in the Richardsonian architectural style, the original facade consists of St. Louis brick facing with Bayfield red sandstone trim. Dubuque's rich heritage is brought to life at the Grand Opera House. Click on the photo above to see more historical photographs and learn about the Grand's history.

Grand Opera House Goes to Dirty Dancing in Chicago!
The Grand Opera House goes to Broadway in Chicago for Dirty Dancing on October 5, 2008! Tickets are $115 per person and include the First Balcony section show tickets and bus transportation. Lunch arrangements will be made on the drive to Chicago. Join the Grand Opera House for a fun trip to see Dirty Dancing.

Advertising Opportunities
The Grand Opera House can offer you a way to reach over 25,000 people for only a few dollars. Why not advertise in the Grand Opera House playbill? Your ad will appear in all of our productions in the current season. That is over 50 total performances. We all know how advertising works. Repeat...repeat...repeat. Make your advertising dollars work for you. Be proud to associate your ad with the Grand Opera House, and its over 1,700 volunteers. Call the business office for details at

Sponsor a Show at the Grand!
Opportunities are still available for our current S.E.T. (Sponsor an Evening of Theater) program. Sponsor a GRAND evening for your business associates, friends, and employees and you will receive free tickets for your sponsorship evening. (Up to 40 tickets) as well as:

  • A full page advertisement in our playbill. A $400 value.
  • Your company display in our lobby.
  • Your personal welcome to the audience from our stage.
  • Entertain your guests using our lobby after the show.
  • Publicity galore! Your sponsorship will be publicized in all Grand Opera House advertisements and will appear on the new lighted sign outside of the theater.
